After matriculating at Grey, I went to the army for a year. I did border duty and became an officer.
I then went to Durban for three years to study pharmacy, but left and went into the motor scrapyard business with my father for forty years. I got married in 1973 and we had four sons that also went to Grey. They are now qualified at Free State University and UCT and living all over the world.
While involved with the scrapyard, I started a security business, Designer Gate Fence, doing anything security with my eldest son. I am now semi-retired as I don’t believe in full retirement and playing as much golf as possible with the Sages.
I was a Rotarian for many years and became President. I was also club captain at Sand River golf club for six years as well as President of the club for three years.
Still married to Cyndi and I don’t know how she put up with me. We have four grandsons and two granddaughters who I love dearly.
