After Matric, I did my military training at the Parabats in Bloemfontein, after which I started my articles at an auditing firm and studied B.com (Acc) part time. After graduating, I entered the corporate world and spent 38 years in management in the building material supply industry.
I have been married to my wife, Noreen, since 1974 and we have three children: a son in New Zealand, a son in Dubai and a daughter in Gauteng. We have six grandchildren.
On the sporting front, I ran a few Comrades marathons, completed a few cycle tours, swam the Midmar Mile, played league squash and hockey and still tinkle a bit on the ivories.
I retired in January 2017 and left Bloemfontein for the amazing place of Plettenberg Bay. Besides enjoying the beautiful weather and pristine beaches with our dogs, I cycle with a group, cycle to the gym three times a week, play bowls and irritate the neighbours with my piano practising.
