We had to make use of Inspector Clouseau’s services to track down Mel, who now resides in the UK (Mel’s son, Brian, provided us with his e-mail address). Unfortunately, Mel did not respond to our numerous requests for a resume, so we yet again commissioned the services of inspector Clouseau to do the necessary detective work.
The famous inspector provided us with the following information: Mel, who was one of the bright sparks of the Class of ‘68 and obtained a distinction for English in the final exam, worked at EThekwini Municipality and before that for the DPA. He studied Economics and Business Economics at Unisa and also studied at the University of KwaZulu-Natal. He got married to Monic in September 1977.
He lived in Durban for most of his working live, but moved to the UK after his retirement from the municipality in 2015.
