Obtained the M.B.Ch.B. degree at the University of Stellenbosch and still active in Claremont, Khayelitsha and Langa, Cape Town. Diploma in Aviation Medicine (1979), worked at 1 and 2 Military Hospital, Military Medical Institute in Pretoria, then Colleges of Surgeons in London and Dublin.
From 1982 to 1984 Surgical Registrar at UCT Medical School. In 1985 GP after both parents died within a year. Started fist Rape Clinic at Victoria Hospital as District Surgeon in association with SAPS, Wynberg Courts, for wider Cape Town Southern Magisterial Districts, Cape Flats and Khayelitsha.
In 1991, along with other practitioners, formed Cape Independent Practitioners Association (CIPA), later evolved into Cape Primary Care (today CPC-Qualicare). As Marketing Director instrumental in setting up and integrating the 30+ regional CPC-QC Doctor Operating Companies linked to CPC-Qualicare. Designed the “Script Data Capturing Model” used today across SA by various similar IPA linked organizations in conjunction with pharmaceutical groups and administrators.
Formed part of the steering committee in setting up the SA Managed Care Coalition for all national IPAs in conjunction with the SAMDP and other political groups to form part in first Peer Review activities. A founding member of OTI Africa, a subsidiary of Israel’s OTI Limited, listed on NASDAQ, a global leader in contactless microprocessor based smart card solutions for homeland security, payments, petroleum payments and other applications. Then headed and started the MediSmart division.
I was a virgin until age 42, then had 3 kids and a younger wife today.
